Bee-cause ... we care

Nicki's Bee-causes

Honuka proudly supports conservation efforts known as 'Nicki’s Bee-causes.' Nicki’s conservation journey began on an African wildlife sanctuary, where her father’s work inspired a lifelong passion for nature.

This was her driving force behind Honuka, and behind the scenes she is working on numerous charitable projects.

ARRC Wildlife Trust - Nicki and Dr Liza's Conservation Journey

Our first “Bee-cause” was a no brainer - when Nicki met Dr Liza Schneider – award winning holistic vet based in Tauranga, New Zealand, Dr Liza’s own background in rehabilitating injured African wildlife resonated with Nicki and they formed an instant connection.

Dr Liza has not only dedicated her life to holistic veterinary, her deep passion for helping animals of all kinds led her to founding ARRC Wildlife Trust in 2003, which provides services, programmes and facilities for the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife and animals.

Nicki was delighted to discover many of ARRC’s rescues were birds from the honeyeater family (nectar birds and pollinators) who thrived on honey, and Honuka could start to help by donating mānuka honey for the recovery of these bird species.

Nicki supports the Trust’s mission, recognizing the need for community involvement and education in wildlife care. Nicki’s work with bees emphasizes their vital role in pollination, while Liza’s efforts focus on rehabilitating many injured bird species. Both are essential pollinators and integral to Aotearoa’s sustainable ecosystem. The partnership between Honuka and ARRC Wildlife Trust reflects a shared commitment to conservation, rooted in a desire to give back to nature.
